The Old 808 - 4

I remember the first time I saw a magic trick; it was Lance Burton on some TV special of some kind. It was a simple card trick, but I was hooked from that moment. While I’ve never gotten good enough to do anything close to Lance Burton, I have fallen in love with cards, and even have my own collection of Bicycle playing cards.

I am surprised that I never took photos of them before, but I hope this series makes up for that ;) And this really is an old deck, its at least 15 or more years old, it was my sisters from the early 90’s.

The final photo of this series is of the four aces; I sat and looked at this one in Photoshop (which I am in love with CS6, by the way) and I honestly couldn’t think of how to edit it. So I didn’t, just straight from DPP, with just my signature added as always ;)

Enjoy :D

The third one is something familiar to anyone who has ever seen a deck of Bicycle, the rider back design. It was actually what I used to get the camera set up for the “My Heart For A Spade” wallpaper, but I liked this one as well ;)

This second was an interesting one, originally I was going to have to crop out the heart (which I used to block out the very brown background) but I like it the way it is.

Enjoy :D

This first photo was one that was just an after thought really, but is (other than the one of the ace I used for the wallpaper) my favorite.

For years I Have loved playing cards, both learning magic tricks and slight of hand, as well as collecting decks. So I started looking around for a nice wallpaper to go along with my love of cards, but could never find one that really fit me. Well… I have quite a decent collection of decks, I am a photographer, and photoshop is my friend… So I decided to make my own, and of course share it with the world.

As always, I try and include as many resolutions as I can, if you have any requests, let me know.

Full Screen: 1600x1200 | 1400x1050 | 1280x960 | 1152x864 | 1024x768 | 800x600

An Alien World - 2

Whenever we get an up close and personal view of the smaller creatures on this planet, things tend to look almost alien. Throw in some interesting white columns, add a dash of color balance, and top it off with HDR, and we get an almost alien looking world.

This second photo is of a Crane Fly (commonly called Mosquito Eater, or Skeeter Eater here in Texas… oh I wish I was kidding…) that was sitting next to a light I was getting a photo of. With the light barley spilling over the ruff column to reach him/her, it made for one great HDR.

Enjoy :D

This first photo is of what I believe to be a Salt Marsh Moth. I was taking photos of the standard black boring moth, when I came across this guy hiding in very plain sight.

The Lonely Cafe

I admit I tend to get into moods when it comes to photos, especially when it comes to specific types of editing. I go through B&W phases, lomo style phases, high white balance phases, etc. Right now? HDR is ruling my mind, and so every photo I shot last night was done with exposure bracketing xD

This one I figured would make an interesting stylized HDR, and I’m quite happy with how it turned out. I just wish there wasn’t so much glare from the window xD

Timeout

Had an amazing day out at the Dallas Arboretum with a woman I am growing quite fond of, and while teaching her photography, I snapped a few of my own.

Right before we had to leave the Arboretum I was taking some photos of the families walking around, and this kid went and sat next to this building, and looked like he put himself in timeout

Enjoy :D

Thin Whispers

Had an amazing day out at the Dallas Arboretum with a woman I am growing quite fond of, and while teaching her photography, I snapped a few of my own.

There was a tree with some interesting parts sticking up on it, with the sunlight coming through it. I loved this photo I got of it, but she got one that trumps this one seriously. I’m actually quite jealous of her
